Tuina & TCM Therapist
ABOUT ME
Graduated from Commercial Technical Institute, following her previous working experience (purchasing manager) she gives way to what has always been her passion: the holistic and natural medicine world.
The ever-present search for a higher meaning of life represents the providential impulse that leads her, over the years, to attend numerous courses, conferences, to travel and meet authority figures in the knowledge field and to live many personal growth experiences.
It was therefore natural at some point to orient her lifestyle toward what was more close to her essence, undertaking a professional run of studies and insights in various theoretical and practical techniques aimed to personal care.
She is currently Tuina operator and works as a freelance at Spazio Anima in Vicenza, Verona and Serravalle Sesia (Vc).
For the purpose of diffuse and make known the Tuina, she organizes informative meetings on Fundamental Principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

INTERVIEW with Carmelita Faedo
Pain, malaise and stiffness? The help comes from TUINA.
Carmelita Faedo, professional TUINA therapist from Spazio Anima Studio, talks about it.- Who comes to the Spazio Anima Studio to receive a Tuina treatment, what discomfort does he feel usually?
CF: in so many years of activity, I can say to have seen everything. In the first place there are people who, especially for reasons of work, age, wrong posture, stress, feel pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulders, back, arms and legs. Immediately afterwords there are intestinal and abdominal disorders.
See more- What are the most common disorders this season?
CF: without doubt, pain and stiffness in the joints, but also intestinal and abdominal disorders. In fact, we are approaching the coldest season and the Humidity, the Wind, The Cold, that in the Traditional Chinese Medicine are called "perverse externals", penetrate easily into the body, causing a disequilibrium in the system, accompanied by pain and general discomfort.
- And what about seasonal changes or "hard" periods of life?
CF: people arrive, usually, complaining about physical fatigue and energy losses. And then headaches, dizziness or physical fatigue that is reflected in a lowering of psychophysical performance in general, at this point, people feel the need of a helping hand and are increasingly looking for a "natural" and lasting solution.
-What are the most feminine disorders that are treated with TUINA?
- Therefore, does TUINA have beneficial effects on the painful part, but also on all the energy of the body?
CF: of course, that is precisely what it does. TUINA is a technique that has important effects:
it harmonizes the nervous system, it makes blood, lymph and energy circulating, and it calms pains and reduces inflammations, facilitates joint movements, nourishes tissues; it increases the body's defences and functions of all organs. TUINA has been developed over thousands of years of experience.
- TUINA is the treatment used in TCM since thousands of years: how does it work?
CF: TUINA is practiced with manual techniques and some maneuvers that, following the path of energetic meridians and acupuncture points, act on muscles and joints and, at a deeper level, on the flow of vital energy of the body and therefore on the state of physical, mental and emotional wellness. It is a matter of appropriately stimulating the body in such a way that it is the body itself that recreates those conditions of equilibrium that exist in each of us. Every treatment takes about one hour and generally the benefits are immediately felt.
- Last Summer we heard about the American swimmer MP, considered to be the biggest swimmer of all the time, because he had used the "cupping", which you also apply to your clients. What does it consist of?
CF: the cupping is a complementary technique to TUINA. It consists in applying cups on the skin that creates a "suction" effect. The application can last from 5 to 20 minutes and is effective in stimulating the QI (energy) and blood circulation. Sportsmen use it to stimulate muscle response and body energy.
- Why do we hear more about TUINA in recent times?
CF: TUINA is spreading more and more in Italy thanks to the specific professional training schools, upgrading courses, seminars and indissoluble practice of years that the operator must use. As a professional therapist, I analyze even the smallest beginnings of disharmony and I act to restore balance by supporting and stimulating the natural reactions already present in human beings. This is my job and my passion.
- What role do emotions play in physical illness?
CF: in the Chinese Medicine, emotions are considered the main inner causes of disease. Emotional activity is seen as a normal physiological response to external stimulos. Within normal limits, emotions do not cause any weakness, but when they become so strong to be uncontrollable, so much so that they overwhelm or possess the person, then emotions can cause major disturbances to the inner organs and open the doors to more serious diseases. It is not the intensity, but the prolonged duration or extreme emotion that causes great discomfort.
Why choose Spazio Anima?
CF: because Spazio Anima offers a natural and complete solution to illness. Over the years, my work has confirmed me what the ancients have always known, i.e. behind a physical disorder there is always an unexpressed emotion. Hence the importance of dealing with various disorders both physically and emotionally. I take care of the physical part, because is in the body that we feel our illnesses and the body needs to be treated and to regain its function. My colleague Maryna Koulich, deals with the most emotional aspects, because it's from there that everything originates. Excessive emotional activity causes serious imbalances in the functioning of our body, blocking meridians and damaging the vital functions and more specific method are needed to act on the emotional universe; Maryna in this is unsurpassable. This collaboration has led to a faster and lasting result on the improvement of the person, thanks to her "transformative" approach and her ability to relieve emotional tensions as well as her experience with natural and psychotherapeutic remedies. I can say that I have found real transformations in people's life.
SA also proposes very practical paths of growth and knowledge to bring in our daily life ancient wisdom and make it become a source of real psychophysical well-being.

“My work is a passion for me. I love taking care of the hardships that burst into life because I realized that they are the voice of a deep vitality that is waiting to be expressed. “Seeing first-hand”, knowing that beyond all the discomforts, there is an Energy that just need to be restored to its free flowing and its flow is the same as ours. For millennia, the Ancient Tradition knows that the discomfort not only is the result of an organ or an apparatus disequilibrium, but can also be a consequence of the difficulty to pursue the individual’s path, the Tao. Taking appropriately action on the body puts you “back on track", puts you in touch with yourself, with your own resources and the unique vitality, expression as thou art”.
